Because my condo is on the market, it must always be in perfect condition. The call came in notifying that there would be a showing of my condo between 3:00 and 5:00. It was 2:47. Normally, I would just take a quick look, tidy up a bit, and leave the condo. No, not today. You see I had my working table covered with newspaper, tubes and tubes of paint, brushes, paper, paper towels...you get the picture. On the floor, I had newspapers with painted papers drying. Oh, but that is not all. On the kitchen table downstairs, I had newspapers covering the table with painted papers drying. I didn't have time to take a picture of the chaos. It wasn't actually chaos before the call; I had it under control. When I was cleaning up, I felt like a chicken without a head. I managed to get everything cleaned up by 3:15 and they had not arrived yet. They probably would not have shown up right then, but I didn't want the potential buyers to show up to see all my paints, etc. spread out everywhere.
So I left the house with my laptop and headed for the bookstore. I started playing with some photos and the above photo was created. So there is my afternoon.
The original photo.

All my creative energy is being used for learning new binding techniques for journal making and bookmaking. This is the journal I made in this class. The class has also given me the added bonus of learning new techniques for page backgrounds. Although it will be a bit scary to use this journal for a self-portrait exploration, I believe that I need to pursue it. Let's see what I discover about myself. It will also allow me to practice and experiment different techniques. You can imagine how satisfying making this journal has been. La la la la.

We are so fortunate to have access to so much information. Sometimes a good thing can be a bit too much. Escaping to places where we can be one with nature is a necessity. I need to spend some time exploring where I live by becoming a local tourist. I might be surprised what I find in my surroundings. The sea will have to wait for a while.

Creating daily has been so important for me this month. Although clean up is necessary after each session, I don't mind it at all.
My creative table is currently reserved for my Urban Journal class with Roben Marie. I am adding my own spin to it, but the technique is the same. Check it out. Ah, my pillow is calling.

Something I look forward to when I move to my new house is gardening. Gardening does not come naturally to me. However, thinking about waking up to flowers every morning, placing them in a vase, and brightening up a day is sufficient to motivate me. How about pulling vegetables from the ground and eating home grown vegetables? This was so inspiring as well. I have much to learn about gardening, but look forward to the challenge. Oh, I am so happy that Spring is here.

Since last Friday, it has been all about floor installations, painting (walls), repairs, cleaning....you get the picture. Squeezing in a bit of time to sketch and paint has been glorious (and drinking a bit too much coffee if you ask me).

Sometimes a smell can spark a memory. Sometimes colors, food, or sometimes.....picnic tables.
When I worked at a medical library during my college years, once I wore a flannel shirt that resembled a typical red and white checkered picnic tablecloth. A librarian gave me this nickname: A Walking Picnic Table. I never forgot it; it's quite humorous actually. Is it time for picnics yet?
