Another beginning

my phrase for 2010 was "be brave."  i wanted to be brave. i was.
i feel good about the choices i have made and
the lessons i have learned about myself and life this past year.

so for 2011 i am focusing on taking the next step.
focusing on expanding/stretching the artist within this year.

what felt really good to create as a reminder of this intention was this bundle.
i love little bundles.  i wrapped the wood block with life of threads paper.

held it in my hand for a while.

now i am ready to welcome 2011.
"For last year's words belong to last year's language and next year's
words await another voice. And to make an end is to make a beginning."
T.S. Eliot

Merry Christmas

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS:
for he shall save his people from their sins.

I accept

although i will be here and there in blogland, I have accepted an invitation to slow down,
take a rest, and enjoy the wonder of this beautiful season.

i am thinking about baking more cookies with my son for the following weeks.
wrapping gifts.
spending time outdoors catching baseballs.
reading some good books.  i'll be taking a trip to the library later today to find
just what i need.  i also need to watch my favorite holiday movies: the sound of music,
the christmas carol (with george c. scott), and while you were sleeping.
finally, enjoy listening to this.

it's time to recharge.

sounds like a good plan.  yes, it does.

The life of threads

when I sew, I have a little container close by where i drop all the threads that are cut off.   after a while,
i end up with a container full of threads and threads. from a moment of mess, came this. now the threads have a new life. and i am loving their new life

in the future, sketching and drawing will come more naturally to me. right now, not so much.

what i have learned this year is to jump in with both feet. not being fearful to try.
i took a paper from a spiral notebook.  i took a pen that rested nearby.  no eraser.
began to sketch what i imagined in my head.
overall, good day.
