30 times & 1/30

This is the journaling prompt I created for myself
to answer 30 times.   It was inspired by Tuesday's post.

Although this Design Sponge post shows how to use this custom stamp
kit for business cards, I am  using it for journaling this time.
It's my new favorite art supply for journaling and stamping.

Evidence of...

This is definitely not the polished me (actually I am pretty terrified that
I am posting this picture here). But I am just going with it.

It is evidence of late nights, early mornings, and
going from here to there. Surely, we have all been there.

Consequently, I am looking for threads that have evidence of wear. Evidence of stories
behind those threads. I know that I can try to re-energize those threads in a different way or tell
their story somehow. It will definitely be an ongoing exploration.

There is always an opportunity to re-energize. Luckily, it doesn't take much for me to regain the
energy I need. More so when you see something like the video below.

Deeply into this.

So here is what I know: know what energizes you and have it always in your life.

Saturday gardening

Last March, I started talking about my excitement for a garden in my new home.
My son and I chose what to plant yesterday.  He chose strawberries.
I selected herbs like basil, mint, sage, and cilantro.

Although it took a while to construct this plant bed, I enjoyed
feeling the dirt and seeing the sun slowly come up.

My son was in charge of the bricks.  He was a great little helper indeed.

I will to see how this turns out and then consider planting some more.

Finally, I enjoyed some crispy and sweet jicama.
Jicama is basically a sweet turnip.
Added a bit of lemon juice and cayenne pepper for a little kick.
So fresh and delicious.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Where they lead me

My life of threads are leading me to amazing places.
I am surrendering fully to their direction.

Windows open

A beautiful day off.
Opened all the windows of the house to allow the
cool breeze to travel through the house.

Also enjoying some delicious asparagus tempura
with soy sauce using this recipe.

Muslin strips.

After this blogging break, I will go back to my studio
and continue with my project while listening to this

These next few days will be about prep work for an experiment.
I like the freedom to pursue ideas.  Then there are those ideas that
stay with you and will not go away.  Those are the most
exciting ideas to pursue.

As I cleaned my art space tonight,
I focused on eliminating those things that will
distract me from my experiment or intention.

DIY: Connections Tin Box

Ever since I started blogging, I have met so many wonderful artists. It has been very
much about connecting with other creative individuals who inspire me and
who share theirwisdom and experience.
I wanted to make something where I can keep all the
contact information.

So here is a DIY.

Begin by cutting some colored cardstock into the desired size.

Use decorative edge scissors to add some variety.

Stamp some of the squares with the Cavillini Vintage Office typewriter stamp...

and the rest with the phone stamp.

Once all the cards are stamped, begin working on
the storage box for the cards.

A tin box is a good choice for these little cards.
Cut some sticky-back canvas to the size of the tin box.
(mine was previously printed on for another project and
I used a leftover piece.)

Paint it with acrylic paints.

Stamp the word Connect.

Doodle a bit.

Remove the backing of the sticky-back canvas
and place on the tin box lid.

Write the contact information on the back
of the cards and place them in the tin box.

I knew this tin box would come in handy one day.

Enjoy your Valentine's Day.

Handmade Valentine's are so much better.
Making and receiving them.
What do you think?

This time i went with non-traditional colors.
This color palette is one of my favorites.
A little bit of life of threads, cardstock, scissors, felt, and
my new stamp.

Enjoy your weekend.

Weekend stamping

After spending two hours in traffic, I went to my new favorite store.
Here is an adorable stamp I found.
It will be part of my Valentine's projects this weekend.

Result of another snow day

After the entire last week of snow days,
we had another snow day today.
No worries.
I focused on doing some collages.
The two I did today can be seen here.

Simplest things

Pirates,bridges, and stamping

Icy.  Snowy.
No Work. No School.
That should sum up this week
in my neck of the woods.
We managed.
We had fun.

Building bridges.

Stamping away.
